Orly Fowl Play

Hello!

For today I´ve got an awesome polish! It has glitter, it has flakies and it is dark purple. What more could I wish for? I love it! I already had OPI Merry Midnight and loved it, but hardly ever used it because I was afraid it would run out. So when I saw Fowl Play I knew I had to have it.

Fowl Play is a dark grape purple jelly with blue glitter and flakies that shift orange, green, red and yellow. Stunning combination!! It is supposed to be a dupe for Merry Midnight and yes it definitely is very close, but Fowl Play seems darker. In my pictures it almost seems black actually.

I used 2 coats and application was good. I really like the Orly caps and brushes!

Gorgeous!!

China Glaze Millennium + Party Hearty

Hi ladies!

Today my Christmas mani. A little late, but why not, right? I think this mani can also be worn on New Years Eve.

I´ve never had as many compliments on any mani as I got on this one. Wow!

And it was an easy one as well. 1 coat of China Glaze Millennium and 1 coat of China Glaze Party Hearty. Of course I did use topcoat, but I didn´t use basecoat. I never use basecoat on lighter colors, they don´t stain.
Application was good on both. My pictures on the other hand... not as sparkly as the mani actually was. And my hands look horrible, old lady like.

My first Christmas mani: Elle´s Spell over Branding Iron

Hello ladies!

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. As I explained the other day, for us here in the Netherlands it´s the second Christmas day today. I did have to work (I work in the airport), so nothing special for me.

I know I´m a little late, but today I´m showing you my first Christmas mani. Since I´m not a red polish kinda girl, but I do love some of the darker ones, I decided to layer Barielle Elle´s Spell over China Glaze Branding Iron. Nice and vampy!! Love the combo!

I used 1 coat of each and it was good to go. Application on both was good.

Here are my pics.

I keep loving flakies! I´m sorry for the overload in the last week.

Have you seen the new Finger Paints flakies yet? They are awesome! I wish I could get them here.

What is you favorite flakie?

Have a great day!

Nicole by OPI Me + Blue

Merry Christmas to all my dear readers!

Today it´s Christmas Eve. Not a lot of people celebrate that here in the Netherlands, since we have 2 Christmas days. But I have a huge family and also work both Christmas days, so I will be celebrating Christmas Eve with my daughter, mom, stepdad, sister and brother in law.

This is an old mani, not the one I´m wearing for Christmas. I really like it although I´m not really into bright blue shades. This one has an almost metallic look with holographic glitter. I had a hard time capturing the holo though.

Application was fine, although I really don´t like this new brush it has. Too wide for me.
I used 2 thick coats to make it completely opaque.

I hope you will all have a wonderful Christmas!

My favorite flakie ever!

Hi everyone!

Today another post with my alltime favorite flakie polish. And it´s cheap too!

First: why is this such an awesome flakie? Well, easy. It has the same color shift as most other famous flakies like Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure and Gosh Rainbow, but on top of that it also has blue flakies, which make it special. It´s Golden Rose Scale Effect 02. I´m going to order a backup real soon, my first ever back up polish.

This time I used it over a dark blue with sparse holographic glitter: Zoya Indigo. Since the holographic glitter is so sparse, you can´t see it anymore after you applied the flakies. But that´s ok.

I used 1 coat of Zoya Indigo and 1 coat of Scale Effect 02.

Awesome, right?!

China Glaze Lorelei´s Tiara

Hello ladies!

Don´t you just love all the collections that came out recently? I really had to take it easy and not order every one of them. But when my sister ordered from Beautyjoint recently, I couldn´t recist and had to have Lorelei´s Tiara from China Glaze. It´s so awesome!

It´s a silver glitter with blue hex glitter. Nice combo! I was still wearing Icing Navy Chrome and since I wasn´t sure how opaque this would be, I decided to layer Lorelei´s Tiara over it. I think this wasn´t necessary at all. In my pictures I only used 1 coat of Lorelei´s Tiara over Navy Chrome. So it would probably opaque in 2 coats when used alone.

Application was fine. The polish was a bit thick though, but that´s normal for a glitter. It dried fast.

So here we go, pretty Lorelei´s Tiara

First 3 pictures were taken in the shade, so you could see the blue glitter better. The last one is in direct light, so you can see how bling bling it is.

What do you think? Beautiful polish, right? I really love it!

Zoya Caitlin + CND Amethyst Sparkle

Hi there!

Todays polish I was about to swap. Why? Well, I didn´t really love the color and it is a creme, which I´m also not fond about. But I decided it needed a second chance before it would leave my house.

Zoya Caitlin is a blue based grey and applies very well, plus it is opaque in 2 coats. I used 2 coats of CND Amethyst Sparkle to get out of its boring zone. And that really helped! Amethyst Sparkle is a very nice pink sparkle. Not my favorite CND, but still.
I really like CND effects and I should really use them more often. The only downside is that I always have trouble catching CND effects on camera. So that´s why I only have 1 picture for you today. I hope you don´t mind.

And still I´m not sure if I should keep Caitlin. I like her, but only as a base color for layering. I would never wear this on its own.

Icing Chrome Navy

Hello!

I´m kind of in a hurry, so this is going to be a short post. Sorry!!

Icing Chrome Navy is a really beautiful blue polish. Metallic navy, yeah baby!

Application was a bit difficult because of the square lid (this isn´t one of the Icing bottles that looks exactly like the China Glaze bottle) and the short brush. But the polish was ok, no problems there. I did expact it to be opaque in 1 coat, but it took 2. Oh well, still not bad. Like other metallic polishes it dried very quick, which makes it great as a base color for any kind of layering.

Here are the pics.

Color Club Too Violet

Hi there!

Todays polish is one I´ve had for quite some time. Well, actually, I swapped/sold it (don´t remember which one) because I wasn´t all too sure if this would be a color for me. Which is strange since I love purple and I love holo glitter. This is sort of a light grape purple, which isn´t my favorite kind. But still, I regreted selling/swapping it a bit, so I decided to buy a new one, a small one this time. So now I can finally show it to you guys.

Too Violet is a pretty opaque glitter, only 2 coats needed. Application was also pretty good.

The color in the pictures is way too pink. It´s much more purple in real life. Why oh why do I have trouble catching the right color lately?

Icing Witche´s Brew

Hello!

Yes, yes, yes, finally!! I found a glitter in a black base that actually shows the color even from a distance. And it´s awesome!

Icing Witche´s Brew is a black jelly with green glitter. And it´s quite opaque too, only 2 coats! Which is pretty good for a jelly I think. The polish is a bit thick, but definitely not unmanageable.

Click to enlarge. In this case bigger is definitely better.

What do you think of this polish? Cool, right?
I actually have the purple version too, will show that soon as well. Hopefully it also shows the glitter so well.

Do you see a pattern lately? No? Well, I´ve shown you lots of greens lately. I seem to love greens more and more.

Cosmetic Arts You Sleigh Me

Hello!

Today I have another polish from Cosmetic Arts. As I´ve told before, this is from the same company as Color Club, Studio M and Funky Fingers. And the color I´m showing you today might be a dupe for Color Club Magic Elf, not sure though.

I used 2 coats of Cosmetic Arts You Sleigh Me, which was ok. Maybe a 3th coat would have been better. But this was just a swatch. Application was just like you expect from Color Club and its sisters.

The pictures are not color accurate. Somehow my camera changed the color for no reason. In real life it really is a more yellow toned green and also lighter.

Enjoy your day!

Misa Say My Name

Hi everyone!

I´d like to start by telling you that a giveaway is coming up very very soon. And it´s a nice one! This time you can choose the colors yourself, so that´s extra special.

Ok, I know, I have shown you todays polish before, but since I think it´s the perfect fall shade, it gets a second chance.

Misa Say My Name is such a vibrant brown shade with a copper shimmer. Perfect brown for sure. Misa´s application is flawless! And very opaque, just 1 coat needed. Well, ok, I only own 2 Misa polishes, but still. You might wonder why I don´t own more Misa´s since I love their application and all. Well, that´s easy, I think their shades are a little boring. Most of them that is. Pretty, but not special.

What´s your favorite brown polish?

Orly Cashmere Cardigan + Color Club Jingle Jangle

Hi ladies!

I did this mani a while ago and I totally forgot about it. Why? I mean, it really is an awesome combo!

The base is Orly Cashmere Cardigan. One of the few cremes that I actually love. I used 1 coat and that was enough, except in sunlight... So if I´ll ever use this combo again I should definitely use 2 coats.
On top I used 1 coat of Color Club Jingle Jangle, which is a lilac, blue, teal and silver glitter. Very nice!

You see, there are some bold spots in direct sunlight unfortunately. Well, I do still love the combo. What do you think?

Enjoy your day!

China Glaze Glittering Garland + Confetti Ice Ice Baby accent nail

Good day!

Oh man, I think I've got a dark green for you now that I actually love more than Emerald Sparkle. It's a very nice forest green with gold and green shimmer. It's so gorgeous!! Its name is China Glaze Glittering Garland.

I don't know why (well, I do know, but I shouldn't have done it) I layered something over this beauty, it doesn't need anything extra. But ok, I did, trying to get through my untrieds. Confetti Ice Ice Baby is a blue/green duochrome glitter in a clear base. Actually pretty cool! But it just doesn't give the wow effect to this manicure. Oh well, next time I'll use it over something else. It does remind me of NYX Aqua Glitter. Not at all in the bottle, but on the nail.
I only layered it over my ring finger and thumb, so just as an accent nail.

For me Glittering Garland is the winner of the season. What's your favorite holiday shade from this year?

Thanks for visiting!

Color Club Nouveau Vintage

Hello!

Finally the last one from the Color Club fall collection. And if I may say so, the best one. It´s a sort of olive/burnt gold with bronze and green shimmer. Pretty cool! Well, in sunlight that is. In normal light it just looks like an olive green. Not really special. So if you decide to wear this, make sure it´s a sunny day.

Nice right? I think it´s a great fall shade!

Finger Paints Artist Sapphire + Sally Hansen Ice Queen

Hi there!

When I saw Sally Hansen Ice Queen it looked really interesting in the bottle. Silver glitter + blue hex glitter. Well, I actually underestimated it. It´s quite an awesome layering polish. Besides the silver glitter and blue hex glitter there´s also some holo glitter (not a lot, just a bit) and pink hex glitter.
Now I only needed something to layer it over. So I went through my spreadsheet and saw Finger Paints Artist Sapphire was still untried. I must admit that I wasn´t sure it was untried or I just forgot to mark it as tried. Oh well, who cares :P It´s a nice dark blue.

Application of Artist Sapphire is really nice because of the small brush. And I only needed 1 coat. It did take a little longer than average to dry, but that´s ok.
Ice Queen has a really nice formula for a glitter! I used 2 coats of that. And it´s not gritty like many other glitter polishes.

Pictures!

What do you think of this combo?

I was a bit afraid it would look like China Glaze Lorelei´s Tiara which I have on the way, but after using it I´m quite sure it isn´t. What I´ve seen from Lorelei´s Tiara is that it is a glitter which fully covers the nail, while Ice Queen is definitely only for layering.

OPI It`s My Year

Hello ladies!

Today an OPI polish from the Miss Universe collection. Since I love Zoya Faye and Orly Oui and thought It´s My Year was a similar polish but colorwise just right between these two, I really thought I needed this polish. After applying it, it looked kind of the same as Zoya Faye. Bummer! I mean, what´s the use of buying dupes? I didn´t do a comparison yet, so I´m not sure yet, but I will make one soon.

This doesn´t mean I don´t like this one. I really adore these kind of shades. I do prefer Orly Oui though.

Application wise it was good. Dried fast too. I used 2 coats for opacity.

And here we go!

Thank you for watching! Enjoy your day!

Models Own Golden Green

Hi ladies!

Today the first one of the Beetlejuice collection by Models Own. Ever since I saw the promo pics, I knew I had to have them all! I must admit that now I have them, I´m not sure I really love all of them, but we´ll see. Maybe when I try them, I like them better than in the bottle.

I decided to start with one of the polishes I had doubts about. And guess what, I really like it! It shifts from golden green to apple green. Nice! Not extremely duochrome, but that´s ok.

Application wise... well, I wasn´t all that satisfied. But maybe it just didn´t like my topcoat. I used my regular China Glaze Fast Forward, but maybe I should try my OPI ds Topcoat next time. Because I really got bubbles and all, which I normally don´t get. Or maybe I should use the Models Own topcoat that was in the set. Any of you tried that one? Is it any good?

Anyway, I was really doubting if I should show you this because of all the bubbles and all, but the color is still really nice. And besides that, you probably see enough perfect manis everywhere on the web. It wouldn´t heart to show that sometimes manis fail miserably.

Ozotic 532 the duo/holo in green/teal/blue/purple

Hello ladies!

Today another one of these awesome Ozotic holo/duochromes. I think this might be the prettiest, but I haven´t used 534 yet, so I don´t think I can decide just yet.

Trust me, if you love duochromes and holos, you definitely need one of these polishes.

The one I´m showing you today is the teal, green, blue, purple version. Gorgeous! The main color seems to be teal and it flashes all the other colors when you change the position of your hands.

Well, you´re here for the pictures, right? So here we go.

All of these are taken indoors in lamp light (that´s why they seem a little dark). I tried to capture multiple colors in one picture, but that wasn´t easy. The first one shows best I guess.

I used 1 coat of Zoya Raven and 2 coats of Ozotic 532. Maybe I can try this one on its own too someday, but duochromes are usually a bit sheer and I didn´t want to waste this gorgeous (and expensive) polish. Application was fine.

What´s your opinion about these holo-duochromes? Any favorites?

Thanks for watching!
