Sally Hansen Cyber

Goodmorning!

Today I´ve got a polish for you that was a lemming for me for quite a long time. Ever since I saw the pictures from polish mayhem I was in love with this color. Have to say that the color is quite different from the swatches from polish mayhem, but it is still a lovely color! It´s a very bright purple with lighter purple shimmer if that makes sense.

I´m talking about Sally Hansen Cyber. Application was good too. I expected to need 3 coats at least, but with 2 it was completely opaque.

Here are the pictures.

Ok, I know, it doesn´t really pop of your screen, but in real life it really is bright! Love it!

Thanks for stopping by on this last day of the year 2010. Can you believe we´re only a few hours away from 2011? This year just went by so extremely fast. Unbelievable! Hope to see you all back here in 2011 :-)

China Glaze Lavender Lynx

Goodmorning ladies!

Already made plans for New Years eve?? I´ll have to work first, but usually we close early, so I asume it won´t be different this year. So after work I´ll pick up my daughter and go home and a friend is coming over. This seems a bit boring, but it´s actually the first time I´m celebrating New Years in this house, eventhough I live here already for 4 years.

Today I´m showing you a hard to find and old polish by China Glaze. It´s called Lavender Lynx. Pretty nice shade of purple! Although in my opinion it doesn´t look lavender...

This is 3 coats

First 2 pics in artificial light, last one in daylight. The color in the first 2 pictures is closest to reality.
It´s not an awesome color, but it is definitely nice and I did not have anything like this yet.

Can anyone tell me from which collection this is and also the year it was released??

Thanks for watching!

China Glaze Jolly Holly + Golden Rose flakies

Hello ladies!

Today I´m showing you the mani I wore at second christmas day.
I used China Glaze Jolly Holly, a very nice dark green, and opaque in just one thick coat. Love that!
After that I applied a coat of a Golden Rose flakie (sorry, forgot the number, they don´t have names). This flakie shifts from green to orange/gold. So it´s not like Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure (and all its dupes) which also shift to red. And it´s also not the standard green to blue flakie. Yes, I really like this one!

Here are some pictures.
First 2 in artificial light, second 2 in daylight.

And here are the bottles of the polishes I´ve used.

Pretty nice combo, don´t you think? I really like it! But hey, I always seem to enjoy flakies, haha.

Have a wonderful day and till tomorrow!

Nfu Oh 64

Goodmorning!

Today I've got one of the most holographic polishes ever. Nfu Oh does a great job with flakies, but is also very good at holo polishes! It does need a special basecoat (which I don't have yet and should buy) like Nfu Oh aquabase or Gosh base fix (or something like that, always forget the name). The problem is that you get bald spots quite easily. I used it without basecoat this time (which I never do) and applied 2 thick coats.

This is the result with topcoat.

In real life it is more lilac than pink. Nice, don´t you think?!

With the ChG Tronica collection coming up, I thought it would be nice to show you a nice holo. I am planning to do some swatching of the polishes I´ve got from the ChG OMG and Kaleidoscope collection because of Tronica too, hope I´ll have time soon.
Do you have a favorite holographic polish? Mine is definitely OPI ds Glamour and my second favorite is probably Color Club Wild At Heart. Very different from today´s Nfu Oh, different kind of holo.

Thanks for stopping by ladies!

China Glaze Tronica

Hello!

You´ve probably already heard about it, but I wanted to dedicate a post to it as well.
China Glaze is coming out with a Limited Edition collection called Tronica. It consists of 12 holographic shades and looking at the colors and the picture I would say they look pretty similar to the OMG collection. Can´t wait to see comparisons of these!

Techno Teal – Turquoise Holographic

Virtual Violet – Violet Holographic
Electra Magnenta – Magenta Holographic
Gamer Glam – Purple Holographic
High Def - Blue Holographic
Hologram - Silver Holographic
Hyper Haute – Rasberry Holographic
3D Fantasy – Peachy Pink Holographic
Digital Dawn – Dusty Rose Holographic
Cyberspace – Taupe Holographic
Mega Bite – Gold Holographic
Laser Lime – Lime Green Holographic

These will be available from around february 2011. And since they are Limited Edition, I hope there will be swatches/comparisons before that, otherwise I´ll be too late to order them, haha. I don´t like buying stuff I haven´t seen swatches of.

What do you think of this collection?

OPI Suzi Skis In The Pyrenees + Sinful All About You

Goodmorning!!

Here in the Netherlands we celebrate christmas in 2 days, so today is our second christmas day. And since I had to work yesterday, I´m celebrating today. This afternoon my daughter and I will go to my mom and together with my stepdad, my youngest sister and her boyfriend we will celebrate with gifts and a nice dinner.

The polish I´m showing you today is the one I showed you last thursday plus some nice glitter. In my opinion grey and gold go very well together.

Here´s Suzi Skis In The Pyrenees + 1 coat Sinful All About You

And here it is with 2 coats of All About You

I think it turned out pretty great. And christmas-y :-)

Have a great day and thanks for watching!

My christmas mani

Ho, ho, ho, merrrrrryyyy christmas!

Hope you are enjoying your christmas so far. I had a nice breakfast with my daughter this morning and will be going to work in a few hours. I work in the airport, so we´re never closed.

I did do a christmas mani which my boss probably won´t approve. But hey, it´s christmas.

For this mani I used 2 coats of China Glaze Mistletoe Kisses, 1 coat of Sinful All About You and 1 coat of China Glaze Party Hearty.

Yes, this is really christmas-y and I like it!

And here it is step by step.
First 2 layers of Mistletoe Kisses

Then one coat of All About You

And once again the final result.

What did you do for a christmas mani? And what are your plans for today?

I wish you all a wonderful christmas!

Nfu Oh 60

Hi ladies!

Getting ready for christmas? I´m preparing a diner tonight for one of my sisters and her boyfriend. Since I´m quite tired from working 2 early shifts (getting up at 4:15 in the morning really is killing, especially 2 days in a row) and I´m not really in the mood. But as soon as they´re here, I´ll probably enjoy it.

The polish I´m showing you today is one I should have used earlier, but wasn´t in the mood for black. Nfu Oh 60 is a black jelly with flakies that shift from red to orange and yellow and green. Since it is a bit sheer I used a coat of Zoya Raven under it.

So this is 1 coat of Raven + 2 coats Nfu Oh 60.

As said before the sun is hiding for weeks, so artificial light is the only thing I can use to get decent pictures.

What do you think of the Nfu Oh flakies? And which ones are your favorites?
I really think they are pretty awesome! My favorites are 51, 52, 53 and 60.

Thanks for visiting!

OPI Suzi Skis In The Pyrenees suede

Hello ladies!
Why such a long name for this polish? Sometimes I wonder if OPI takes more time to invent the names for the polishes than actually think of great colors. Just look at the upcoming Texas collection, only one word comes to mind: boring! Nothing special, nothing unique. Don´t get me wrong, I have like 35 OPI polishes or something, I really do like them, but I really do think they make too many cremes, reds and pinks.

Anyway, I used this one because I was tired and didn't want to take a lot of time to do my nails. Suedes are the perfect sollution for that! One coat needed and dries like crazy.

SSITP suede is a dark grey or charcoal version of the suede line. I'm not a huge fan of suede finishes, it looks a bit weird, but maybe I just still need to get used to it, but for now it's topped off with a layer of top coat.

Here´s 1 coat with topcoat. First one in daylight, second in artificial light.

I´m not really sure if I like it like this. Maybe I should put something on top of it. Flakies or glitters, hm, I´ll think of something nice. What do you think of this one?

Thanks for stopping by!

Sinful I Love You

Goodmorning!

Today I decided to use a Sinful polish since I haven´t used them a lot yet. In the US this is almost the cheapest brand you can get, but they do have some nice colors! I especially love Daddy´s Girl. But also All About You and the one I´m showing you today I Love You.

I did a comparison with purple polishes with glitter in them a while ago and used this one too. This was actually the only one that was really different from all the others. Here´s the link if you´d like to take a look: http://miranniesnails.blogspot.com/2010/09/purple-glitter-comparison.html

I used 3 coats, since it is kind of sheer, but very sparkly.

In real life this is a lot brighter and lighter and more red toned purple. Since the sun doesn´t want to shine anymore or something, it´s really difficult to get decent pictures. Oh well, just take a look at the comparison, you get a better idea of what this color is supposed to look like.

Only 3 days till christmas. Have you decided yet what your mani is going to be? I did try a few different things last week and I know what it´s going to be now.

Enjoy your day!

Nicole by OPI Leave Me Alone, no, it's not me

Goodmorning!

Today I have a polish for you that actually is quite disappointing. Just a few weeks ago I found some swatches of this one and in each picture it showed duochrome, so of course I had to have it, hahaha. When it arrived I was already getting less excited, hardly any duochrome visible in the bottle. This is a discontinued and very hard to find polish, so it wasn't the cheapest to get.
And then the day came that I wanted to try it out, like a week ago now. The duochrome just isn't there and to me it's sort of a plain bronze shimmer. Looks truly boring on me. Oh well, they can not all be winners, right?! It does look like leafs in autumn, maybe on some girls this looks better, but for me, no... straight into my swap drawer.

But then something strange happened. I decided I did need to take pictures and when I put them on my computer I saw duochrome. How´s that possible?? I mean, I take all my pictures with my cell phone and now it shows the duochrome I was looking for all day. It´s not huge, it´s just a slight duochrome, but it is visible on camera.

Well, this is Nicole by OPI Leave Me Alone 2 coats
Excuse the tipwear.

I like it better in the pictures than in real live.
Well, that´s all for today. Thanks for stopping by!!

OPI Holiday Glow

Goodmorning ladies!

Only a few days till christmas. And today I´m showing you a polish from the OPI holiday collection 2009. I have used this one before, but somehow I forgot how pretty it was or something, because in my memory it looked very different.

Anyway, Holiday Glow is a brown polish with glitter. Not much more to say. Sounds simple, but it really is pretty.

This is 3 coats with topcoat. First picture in artificial light, second in daylight.

Unfortunately I have no clue where the sun has been in the last month or so, so daylight pictures are just not as they are supposed to be.

OPI Holiday Glow is not a bumpy glitter, so 1 coat of topcoat will do the job. That´s an advantage, don´t you think?

Have a great day!

Funky Fingers Bella´s Boy over Nicole by OPI It´s Up To You

Hi ladies!

Enjoying your weekend?

Today I want to show you a polish from the eBay store I recently mentioned (prettythingsforyouandme). I promissed to show you a polish that is hard to find. Ok, maybe not for some US ladies, but I hardly ever see this brand on blogs, so I assume it´s not just at any drugstore. I´m talking about Funky Fingers.

Funky Fingers is from the Forsythe Cosmetic Group. Other brands FCG has are Color Club, Massini/Studio M and Cosmetic Arts. Most of you probably already figured that out, since they make quite a few of the same colors:
Funky Fingers bourbon street = Color Club wild and willing
Funky Fingers kenyan sunset = Color Club wild at heart = Funky Fingers jester
Funky Fingers hyper = Massini fast play

And sometimes even with the same names:
Color Club magic attraction = Massini magic attraction
Color Club tru passion = Massini tru passion
Funky Fingers snakeskin = Color Club snakeskin
Funky Fingers fashion addict = Color Club fashion addict = Massini fashion addict

I don´t know anything yet about Cosmetic Arts, since it seems to be a quite new brand (correct me if I´m wrong)

The polish I´m showing you today is one I´ve definitely seen in a Massini bottle as well, but since both Massini and Funky Fingers seem to bring out their polishes named "Promo Shades" quite frequently at first and then name it later, I have no clue what the name of the Massini is.
Bella´s Boy is sort of the blue/green version of Massini Fast Play, which I totally love. It has some kind of flakie/glitter. Pretty cool and unique (well, accept for the dupes within Forsythe Cosmetic Group)

This is 2 coats of Funky Fingers Bella´s Boy over 2 coats Nicole by OPI It´s Up To You

You see the gorgeous gold flakies/glitters that change to blue and green? Awesome!
It´s Up To You is a medium blue shimmer with a slight purple flash. The purple flash was of course impossible to catch on camera, but I still wanted to show you the Nicole on it´s own as well.
2 coats.

Well, that´s all for today. Hope you enjoyed it. Sometimes I like to give some extra info on polishes too, I hope you appreciate that as well.

Thanks for reading!

Zoya Julieanne

Goodmorning!

Man, it has been busy weeks! I´m so glad my daughter has a two week holiday now, maybe I can catch some extra sleep over the next 2 weeks.

Today´s NOTD post is about Zoya Julieanne. About 6 weeks ago or so I showed you Accessorize Purple Passion and I really think these are dupes. Will do a comparison soon. I´ve also read that Orly Out Of This World is a dupe. I really has been the year of the dupes. Why make a new sort of finish and then make all the same colors? I still don´t get it. I mean I get it when a cheap brand like Essence makes a copy, but Zoya and OPI and Orly and Mac, I don´t get it.

Well, let´s have a look at Julieanne. It´s a really dark purple with lighter purple glitter/shimmer. It´s definitely not my favorite Zoya, but I do like it! And on my short nails I only needed 1 coat.

Horrible pictures! Tipwear, not a steady shot, hardly see it´s purple. No I´m not satisfied. Oh well, that´s what happens when you use your cell phone to make pictures. It is still better than my stupid camera, but sometimes I just can´t get a good picture. The tipwear is my mistake, I forgot to make pictures while it still looked good and when I was about to take it off because of the tipwear I realized I hadn´t photographed it yet.
So I apologize! Hopefully better pictures tomorrow.

Do you like Zoya Julieanne? I did see it made it to the Top 20 of some ladies on MUA. It doesn´t make mine, but I do like it, but not love.

Thanks for stopping by and hope to see you back here tomorrow!

Icing Peacock

Hello ladies!

Today I´m showing you a polish that I recently got in a swap as an extra. This came from Cat aka Faerieberry. I had never even seen this polish in swatches but it shows how well she knows my taste. I love it, thanks Cat! I always have trouble finding a nice extra for a swap, it´s difficult to figure out someone else´s taste. But Cat did a great job once again.
It´s a teal leaning green with a pink flash/duochrome. It´s unlinke anything I´ve seen before, so truly unique. You don´t see many polishes from the brand Icing on blogs unfortunately, would love to see more, maybe they have more of these awesome shades.
The only polish that comes to mind when I look at this is Zoya Adina, although that´s purple with a green flash/duochrome.

Here is Icing Peacock, 3 coats.

I had a hard time capturing the pink flash, but you can see it very good in real life and also in the bottle. Yes, I really like this shade.

Can anyone tell me why the bottles of the Icing polishes are exactly the same as China Glaze bottles? I´ve read somewhere that they are not from the same company, but looking at the bottles I really doubt that.

So, do you like this shade? Isn´t this just one very unique shade?

Thanks for watching!

China Glaze Meteor Shower + a fantastic eBay store

Hi ladies!

Last week I ordered from this eBay store: http://stores.ebay.nl/prettythingsforyouandme
I think it was my best eBay experience ever!! First of all they have great polishes and some VHTF stuff too. They ship international for 15 dollars for 6 bottles, not too bad. But what surprised me most was how quick it arrived. I paid my order on saturday, it was shipped on sunday and it came in on tuesday. 2 days!!! From USA to The Netherlands. How´s that even possible? Communication was great too! They kept me posted about every step of the way and very nice.
So I would definitely recommend this eBay store. So have a look and see for yourself what pretties they have.

The polish I´m showing you today is one that came in this order. This is not hard to find yet. I´ll show you one of the hard to finds later.
China Glaze Meteor Shower is a very dark blue/navy polish with chunky multicolored/holo glitter. I actually had this before, but I swapped it. I had trouble applying it and I hated the chunky glitter. But it is so pretty! So I bought it again. And it looks great on my new nubbins!

This is 2 coats with 2 coats of SV (and I still think it could need a third coat of SV)

I seriously hate how my cuticles and hands look! I´ve tried everything to make it better, but nothing seems to help. Or maybe it does help and it would be even worse if I wouldn´t have tried everything, haha.
Anyway, I hope it doesn´t bother you to much and you will keep reading my blog and look at the pretty polishes. Maybe it´s time to learn how to handle photoshopping...

Enjoy your day!

Winners Holiday Giveaway!!

First of all I want to thank all of you for entering my giveaway, THANKS!

As you might have noticed I didn´t reach 250 followers, so the third prize didn´t make it into the giveaway. The good news is that I will be keeping those for a next giveaway.

And of course by now you are all very curious what 3 polishes are my favorite. Actually only one lady had the right answer, well done Cheryl!!
So here they are: Nfu Oh 51, OPI ds Glamour, Orly Space Cadet.
I don´t think 51 was a big surprise since I mentioned that a few times on my blog, but especially DS Glamour seems to be a bit of a surprise.

Now on to the winners.

Prize 1: Barry M dusky mauve, Barry M vivid purple, Barry M indigo, Barry M navy
goes to: Brenda

Prize 2: Models Own green tea, Models Own champagne, Models Own 25 carat gold, Models Own sterling silver
goes to: Jenny

Congratulations ladies!

Both winners have been notified by email this morning.

Nfu Oh 56

Goodmorning!

Like most nail polish lovers I´m a fan of flakies. Lately I´ve started appreciating green nail polish more and more. With this introduction todays NOTD can only be Nfu Oh 56. Well, ok, the title gave it away.

Nfu Oh 56 is a green jelly with green flakies that in some light change to blue. It is very sheer. Since 51, 52 and 53 are sheer, but can get away with 3 coats, I thought this would be like that too. But unfortunately it was worse. After 4 coats I could still see through my nails when I held them up into the light. So next time I will have to layer this or apply it on nubbins. I actually filed my nails into nubbins after I removed 56, so you will see what that looks like tomorrow.

On to the pics

In the second picture you can see that my nails grow the wrong way, that´s actually why I made nubbins of them.
I really do love the color, although it doesn´t really match my skintone, but I don´t really mind.

I will announce the winners of the giveaway this afternoon, so don´t forget to have a look. Who knows, you might be the lucky winner :D

Thanks for visiting!

Giveaway closed

Just a quick note to let you know my giveaway is now closed. Everyone entering after this, I´m sorry, you are too late, maybe next time.

And a warm welcome to all my new followers! Thank you!

I will announce the winners tomorrow afternoon

Sally Hansen Lapis Amethyst

Hi ladies!

Wow, over 200 followers! Awesome! Thanks ladies!
Last week I made a comparison post with almost all my Sally Hansen Prisms (http://miranniesnails.blogspot.com/2010/11/warning-pic-heavy-comparison-between.html). But there´s one I had nothing to compare with, so I´m showing you this one now on its own.

When I was applying it I wasn´t all that impressed by it. It was kind of streaky and boring metallic ice blue. After I finished it I found out it is a duochrome. It shifts from ice blue to lilac and light green. Still streaky though, but that always happens with metallics, not much I can do about that.

Here´s 1 coat of Sally Hansen Lapis Amethyst 1 coat of Nubar Noir

I still don´t like how streaky it is, but the color shifts are pretty awesome!

Thanks for watching!

Don´t forget, only 15 hours left for my giveaway: http://miranniesnails.blogspot.com/2010/11/holiday-giveaway.html

OPI ds Desire

Hi ladies!

The one I'm showing you today was one of my first lemmings. Eventually I found it on eBay, don't remember for how much, but it wasn't all that bad.
This shade is actually really boring when the light doesn't hit it. But when it does, it is amazing! And quite unique, I haven't seen any shade like this with holo.

So here it is, OPI ds Desire, 2 coats in artificial light.

Stunning, isn't it!? A warm brown shade with holo.
I actually did use topcoat, which I always do, but with some holos it makes the holo dull. This one had no problem what so ever.
Somehow I always forget I have this one, eventhough I really like it.

What are your favorite OPI DS polishes?

http://miranniesnails.blogspot.com/2010/11/holiday-giveaway.html
